We’re all going through a time of change and adjustments. I know I have these past few weeks. The most common adjustment I’ve heard about besides working from home; people can’t go to the gym. My gym closed almost a month ago and I had no idea what I would do.
SIDE NOTE: This doesn’t all have to be based around the gym. I have a full video on how to stay lean and maintain muscle from the comfort of your home in 5 steps. (click here)
I can work out at my apartment gym. IT WILL REQUIRE A LOT OF DISCIPLINE. I just knew that my mindset had always been very different at the gym than it ever was when I was trying to workout alone at home. It probably has a lot to do with routine. Just like how we know that when we get into bed, it’s time to sleep. Same thing, when I walked through those doors, I knew it was time to workout and get a pump in. That was really hard for me to do at my apartment gym because I just couldn’t turn that switch on. Lets be real: it will take me less than a minute to walk back into my apartment so why would I want to workout?
WEEK ONE GOES BY AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY GYMS OR ANYTHING NON ESSENTIAL WILL START TO OPEN…. SO HERE I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO WORK OUT, STAY LEAN, MAINTAIN MY MUSCLE I HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR.
What does my apartment gym have? Can I continue my normal workouts. NOPE. Here I am back at square one because now I need to come up with an at home workout program. (I have a video on all the work out apps I looked at and downloaded to start working out at home. You can check them out here)
As I am checking out these workout programs I can do from home, it doesn’t seem to cut it because I just want to lean out and maintain my muscle but it seems hard to do with what I was looking at. I wanted to be in the gym back at my squat rack and everything seemed to be so BLAH. So I started my research again.
At home HITT workouts. INSANITY! That’s it! Let me commit myself to these at home intense workouts. There is all this hype around them. People seem so toned, have muscle, are lean. What could I lose? Don’t get me wrong.
IT IS NOTHING LIKE LIFTING WEIGHTS. I started the workout plan. I was three minutes into this cardio challenge and WOW I was dying. I am three weeks into this program and I die a little more each time. It doesn’t get easier, it gets harder. I am sore by the end of the week. I am working out every part of my body. I was wrong when I thought body weight workouts could not really do anything for me. I am leaning down. I am losing the extra “fat” I wanted to lose on my body. In a sense, it was a blessing. So don’t be so closed minded when you have to try something new. I’m not the best at that but I am learning. I am changing.
Here is the link to insanity. I hope it keeps you sane.
I hope you will learn and change with me.
