June 16, 2020

We have been home for about 3 months. Today is June 15, 2020. I am starting a month long journey. It might be longer.

I’m starting this journey because I have worked really hard the last 3 months on my fitness journey and to take myself happier but it is not where I want it to be. My fitness needs a little bit of a push but in a healthy way. My happiness is here but I am taking too much time making others happy. I need to make myself happy and put myself before others needs and wants.

Nothing is accomplished if you’re truly not doing everything for yourself and being happy for yourself so here are a few of my challenges to myself that I will update on what I did to accomplish them.

Fitness Challenge: Get my 10,000 steps in a day. Get my workout in each day. I started the ChloeTing challenge today. Today was day 1: I had a full body hit workout and abs. Later in the day I went on a hike walk. I feel pretty accomplished today! 🙂

Happiness Challenge: Do something each day to spark happiness from within. Today I finished my Stats class. I got my certificate and I am pretty stoked about that. IT gave me a sense of accomplishment which it is! I need to stop playing as if everything I do is so nonchalant.

Physical Goal: So right now I am the heaviest I have been EVER in my life. I am about 131lbs. Just in February 2020 I was 117. I cannot have gained 13 lbs in about 3-4 months. This is going to change! I am 5’1 and my goal is to be 120lbs.

Food Goal: I don’t want to obsess over food. I started counting my calories about two weeks ago so I will adjust from there and give myself some flexibility in eating. I am vegetarian so it is a bit harder for me to hit all my macros and I am still figuring that out. I like to snack (esp. on chips).

Blogging Goal: I will blog DAILY about my experience and what I went through each day. Lets build a community!

For now, these will be the things I will be doing the next 30 days. To keep up with me, I will be uploading a video on YouTube once a week to see my progress. We will be weighing in once a week, every Monday! I will post that video on each Wednesday! I hope y’all join me on this journey 🙂

We have all seen this new thing at Sephora where they have a “clean” category. These are the products we all need to gravitate towards more .

What does it mean when Sephora says that their products are “clean”.

Those standards hinge on the vetoed ingredients, of course, which have been chosen due to a variety of concerns ranging from health to the environment. All products with the “Clean at Sephora” seal will not contain the sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes and formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinylpalmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban. For fragrance brands, PTFE/PFOA, styrene, polyacrylamide/acrylamide, acetaldehyde, acetonitrile, methylene chloride, benzalkonium chloride, toluene, resorcinol, acetone, butoxyethanol, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, methyl cellosolve, methylisothiazolinone/methylchloroisothiazolinone, mercury and mercury compounds (thimerosal), bisphenol A (BPA), and animal fats, oils, and musks are also excluded. Furthermore, skin care, hair, and makeup brands with the “Clean at Sephora” seal have less than one percent of synthetic fragrances and no undisclosed fragrances.

In addition to the “Clean at Sephora” category, Sephora is also finding ways to minimize their environmental footprint. Not only are they installing LED lights in all their North American stores and created a new “zero emissions” delivery truck in the Bay Area (where their headquarters are located), but they also recently launched a Sephora Collection lipstick line that features cardboard tubes to help promote sustainability.

“By launching this ‘Clean at Sephora’ category, Sephora will define what Clean means to the retailer,” Patrick says, “in turn, creating a point of view that clients can navigate, learn from and shop with sense of comfort that the work has been done for them.” (statement in allures article)

I have been shopping in the Clean at Sephora category. I have started with my haircare and skincare which I am sharing on my YouTube channel. Even though, you may not notice a difference right away just remember that they’re better for your skin and body. The toxins that are taken away from your day to day routine will help you to become healthier and may help with brain fog and many other symptoms that we have which we may not notice.

I hope you can take a few minute to check out my YouTube video on clean skincare products 🙂

Anytime I have talked to someone about skincare, everyone talks about serums. I have always had a super simple skincare routine. In high school, bar of soap and a random moisturizer. College is when I started to test out products but I knew my skin wasn’t very sensitive so I could really use anything. Now that I’m almost in my mid 20’s. (WOW that’s crazy!). Everyone has started to talk about you should pay attention to your skin, start early, don’t start when you have issues like wrinkles or fine lines. So I decided to listen and this year is the first time I am consistent with my skincare routine. So I believe I started this routine in Feb 2020.

I use the “Buffet” serum morning and night time under my moisturizer. I use the Lactic acid only at night time. Let me tell you the difference you see within a week of using these two products is insane.

BEFORE (JAN 2020) & AFTER (APRIL 2020)

We are all home right now. We are probably all trying to stay busy. One way many of us are staying busy is by practicing our makeup skills.

Let me tell you! Once quarantine started my makeup just looked like I had slapped a bunch of layers on my skin and didn’t even try to make it look good. I had no idea why this was happening to me. I had creases everywhere and looked like I was a 25 years old with wrinkles.

The problem was the foundation of my makeup and my method of applying. If you ever feel that your makeup is just not setting here are some products I use to have it look less like that!

These are my HOLY GRAIL. I’m not just saying I set my makeup with it. After each set of my makeup, I layer it with this. Yeah it might seem like a lot of work but the way your skin glows after you do your makeup! You will be mind blown! Both of these products are 9.99. Here are some links: NYX SETTING SPRAY, OLAY MIST.

I have a YouTube video showing you have I do my makeup with this routine. If you want to watch how I do this routine, watch this.

It has been a long time since I’ve done a makeup tutorial! It is so fun to show or even watch others do their makeup. I have uploaded a video for you to learn some tips and tricks I use for my makeup routine. We are all home right now, either working from home or just home. Taking the time to get dressed makes you have a productive day. At least for me, I feel like I get more done when I am dressed and working. Maybe it is simply the fact that I have one thing checked off my list. How many of you also like to get dressed before you start working?

Leave your secret makeup tip down below!

Have you watched gymnastics, tumblings, and cheerleading? You sit there and think to yourself: “I wish I could do the splits too”. Me too. You’re not alone. I have for years thought it would be such an accomplishment to do the splits but I never understood why I got unmotivated. It all requires patience and practice.

I started learning the splits about a couple months ago but have not been consistent so now I have been more consistent with my stretches but that is not all that goes into doing the splits. There is so much more. Watch the video on the stretches and the science behind the splits BELOW.

FIRST, lets start with how the splits are done. They’re done with your quads, hamstrings, glutes, and hips. Make sure these parts are flexible and stretched out on the daily. One way to stretch out these muscles to prepare to do the splits is by foam rolling. Foam rolling makes your muscles softer.

SECONDLY, water is your best friend. YES! Water plays a huge role on how your muscles are (flexible or tight). Everything in our bodies works inside out. So you intake good food, vitamins, and mineral: you will see those results on the outside.

THIRD TIP, you have to lift. As much as we may think that lifting does not help with flexibility; your muscles and joints need strength to be able to allow the flexibility for the splits.

Let’s all start by thinking about how many times in the last month, we have spent way TOO much money on one meal? I’ll start by raising my hand. Spending 30 dollars on a meal. That just blows my mind every time. Something that will take me about maybe 30 mins to make is costing me $30 to go pick up. WOW.

We all just pay for the convenience: the convenience of not wanting to cook, convenience of watching tv, convenience of getting food delivered to our doors. Isn’t that crazy?

That is what humans do! We pay for convenience.

What blows my mind even more is that we are ALL capable of cooking. We are just lazy. We like to have things that will allow us to quickly get stuff done. I have put together a video of my day to day eating on a budget. You will probably buy a couple days of meals for yourself with the 30 dollars you’re spending on having that food delivered to you. Check it out. Let me know what you think. I can do a step by step for any of these meals. Just leave comment below.

We’re all going through a time of change and adjustments. I know I have these past few weeks. The most common adjustment I’ve heard about besides working from home; people can’t go to the gym. My gym closed almost a month ago and I had no idea what I would do.

SIDE NOTE: This doesn’t all have to be based around the gym. I have a full video on how to stay lean and maintain muscle from the comfort of your home in 5 steps. (click here)

I can work out at my apartment gym. IT WILL REQUIRE A LOT OF DISCIPLINE. I just knew that my mindset had always been very different at the gym than it ever was when I was trying to workout alone at home. It probably has a lot to do with routine. Just like how we know that when we get into bed, it’s time to sleep. Same thing, when I walked through those doors, I knew it was time to workout and get a pump in. That was really hard for me to do at my apartment gym because I just couldn’t turn that switch on. Lets be real: it will take me less than a minute to walk back into my apartment so why would I want to workout?

What does my apartment gym have? Can I continue my normal workouts. NOPE. Here I am back at square one because now I need to come up with an at home workout program. (I have a video on all the work out apps I looked at and downloaded to start working out at home. You can check them out here)

As I am checking out these workout programs I can do from home, it doesn’t seem to cut it because I just want to lean out and maintain my muscle but it seems hard to do with what I was looking at. I wanted to be in the gym back at my squat rack and everything seemed to be so BLAH. So I started my research again.

At home HITT workouts. INSANITY! That’s it! Let me commit myself to these at home intense workouts. There is all this hype around them. People seem so toned, have muscle, are lean. What could I lose? Don’t get me wrong.

IT IS NOTHING LIKE LIFTING WEIGHTS. I started the workout plan. I was three minutes into this cardio challenge and WOW I was dying. I am three weeks into this program and I die a little more each time. It doesn’t get easier, it gets harder. I am sore by the end of the week. I am working out every part of my body. I was wrong when I thought body weight workouts could not really do anything for me. I am leaning down. I am losing the extra “fat” I wanted to lose on my body. In a sense, it was a blessing. So don’t be so closed minded when you have to try something new. I’m not the best at that but I am learning. I am changing.

Here is the link to insanity. I hope it keeps you sane.

I hope you will learn and change with me.
